Trace the Nano S Plus USB Route
For a Ledger Live Nano S Plus USB connection, consider the complete route from host to hardware: supported platform, data cable, operating-system access, and device readiness. The application is now Ledger Wallet, formerly Ledger Live. Nano S Plus uses USB rather than Bluetooth, and it receives power through that connection. A visible screen confirms only one part of the route.
Choose a Host That Supports the Task
Review the Nano S Plus platform information before connecting. Supported desktop use and compatible Android USB OTG use are different environments with different requirements. An iPhone does not provide the equivalent wired Ledger workflow, even if its connector looks compatible. A cable cannot add an unsupported connection method to the app.
Also identify what you need to do after connecting. Routine account use, installing a blockchain app, and device OS maintenance can have their own instructions. A successful connection test does not establish that every feature from another platform is available on your chosen host.
Prove the Data Path Before Editing Software
Try one direct connection with a cable known to carry data. Remove extra adapters or a dock for a controlled test where possible. If the Nano S Plus powers on while the app waits, substitute the cable before resetting app data. Test another host port as a separate step, so you can distinguish a cable result from a port result.
On Android, confirm that the phone supports the required USB host or OTG capability. If your manufacturer exposes an OTG setting, follow its instructions and watch for the relevant application access prompt. Unlock the phone as well as the Ledger. Do not assume that an accessory designed only for charging provides the needed data arrangement.
Check Who Can Open the Device
Use Ledger’s operating-system-specific USB help when physical tests succeed but the application remains blocked. Linux may need Ledger’s supported device rules; a managed computer may have a hardware policy. Do not use a generic driver pack or broad security exclusion as a substitute for identifying the actual restriction.
Another wallet program can also hold the connection. Close competing desktop apps and active browser wallet sessions, then use one instance of the official companion app. A device already in use elsewhere can produce a failure despite an otherwise working cable and host.
Follow the Hardware Prompt for the Operation
Enter the PIN through the Nano S Plus buttons. Read the requested state instead of opening a random blockchain app. My Ledger management and a specific transaction can require different device screens. Approve only the connection or operation that matches the action you initiated on the host.
Get the official application through the Ledger distribution page. If USB works but only an account refresh fails, investigate the network and synchronization separately instead of continuing to change the physical route.
USB Questions
Does a different cable require restoring my wallet?
No. Cables provide communication, not a new wallet identity. Keep the configured hardware intact while checking the route.
What should a support report include?
Specify desktop or Android, model and version, cable tests, visible error, and whether the host detects USB hardware. Exclude recovery words and PINs; neither proves that a cable transfers data.
