Before Sharing a Ledger Live Deposit Address
When the Ledger Live receive address is not showing, pause the withdrawal at the sending exchange or wallet. You need a verified destination, not a replacement address supplied by another person. Ledger now calls its companion application Ledger Wallet, so current screens may use that name while older instructions say Ledger Live.
Describe the interruption precisely: perhaps the account selector is empty, the Continue button waits for a device, or the address appears but its QR code does not. These are different situations. Begin with the stage you can actually see rather than applying every installation fix available online.
An Empty Account Selector
Check whether the relevant account has been added to this installation. After moving to another computer, an initialized hardware wallet can still control the same keys even though the new app has an empty account list. Discover the account using that device and the correct blockchain.
The coin application installed on the Ledger enables device operations; it is not the same thing as an account entry on your computer. The distinction is explained in Ledger’s account and device-app documentation. A token may belong under its supported parent-chain account rather than a separate selector entry.
A Screen Waiting for Hardware
Unlock the device privately using its own controls. Read its display for the next requested coin app or confirmation. If the app cannot detect the device, resolve that connection before attempting to copy a destination from an old screenshot.
On a desktop, use USB with a cable capable of transferring data. Close browser wallets or other programs currently accessing the same device. For mobile, use the transport supported by the phone and Ledger model. The presence of Bluetooth on a computer does not establish Bluetooth support in the desktop application.

Compare the Full Address
Follow the device-verification step and compare every part of the address, including the middle, with the hardware display. Do not rely solely on the beginning and ending characters. Ledger’s Ethereum receiving instructions provide one example; another chain can have different requirements.
Check the Network at the Sending End
Ask the sender or exchange to identify the actual blockchain selected for withdrawal. A familiar ticker and compatible-looking address do not guarantee the same network. Complete this check before approving the sender’s withdrawal, because the receiving application cannot change the chain after submission.
Treat QR Codes as Another Representation
A QR code represents destination information; its appearance is not proof of ownership. If scanning fails, use only a destination already verified through the device workflow and check it again after pasting. Never replace it with a code from a support message.
Questions Before You Receive
Is there an activation payment for the Ledger app?
The application does not require a payment to unlock its Receive feature. Particular blockchains may have documented account rules, but a stranger’s verification address is not an acceptable substitute for those rules.
Why is my new Bitcoin address different?
Some account types use successive receiving addresses for privacy. Verify the current address on the device instead of assuming every change indicates an error or that all chains behave like Bitcoin.
What if verification reports a mismatch?
Cancel the deposit preparation. Investigate the selected account, connected device configuration, and application source through official support. Do not use a large transfer as an experiment to decide which address is correct.
