Make Two Separate Support Decisions
A Ledger Live Windows 10 install requires an application compatibility check and an operating system maintenance check. The companion program is now called Ledger Wallet. A package that installs successfully does not establish that the computer still receives the security updates needed for ongoing use.
Microsoft ended standard Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025. Review its current lifecycle information and any applicable Extended Security Updates arrangement. Confirm the actual edition, eligibility and enrollment rather than assuming that extended coverage applies automatically to every PC.
Decide Which Computer to Use
If this PC is not receiving appropriate security maintenance, consider a supported operating system or another supported host before building the setup around it. The choice of interface computer does not require changing your existing hardware wallet’s keys.
Record the Windows edition, architecture and installed release in System settings. Compare those details with the Ledger Windows download requirements. An old guide’s supported configuration may describe an earlier application, and a Windows label alone does not establish processor compatibility.
Obtain and Inspect the Package
Follow Ledger’s own Windows distribution route and wait for the transfer to complete. Keep the downloaded file identifiable so you do not later open a similarly named copy from an unknown source. Inspect available signature and publisher information when reviewing an installation prompt.
If Windows reports a threat, preserve the detection and investigate. Do not interpret historical false-positive discussions as authentication of your new file. An ordinary permission prompt and a named malware detection ask different questions about the software.
Install One Recognizable Copy
Follow the installer under the normal supported account and open the installed application afterward. Distinguish the program from its setup executable; repeatedly opening the latter can restart installation instead of launching the wallet interface.
Prepare a suitable USB data cable and close competing wallet clients. Desktop device access is through USB. A paired Bluetooth entry in Windows does not substitute for the connection expected by the dedicated desktop application.
Add the Existing Wallet or Initialize New Hardware
For a device that already controls accounts, select its existing-wallet route and unlock it on the hardware. Complete the app’s checks and add the supported network accounts. Keep your device configured rather than generating a new phrase because the computer installation is fresh.
For new hardware, follow its official initialization and offline backup instructions. Recovery words must not be entered into Windows or a website. After accounts are discovered, verify a receiving address on the device and compare recent public activity before relying on the portfolio display.
Windows 10 Installation Questions
Does ESU make every old application supported?
No. Operating system security coverage and Ledger application requirements remain separate. Verify both for the configuration you plan to use.
Can I keep the same wallet after moving to Windows 11?
Yes. A configured hardware device can be connected to a supported new interface. Check the correct accounts and networks when rebuilding its local display.
What if the installer runs but the device is missing?
Treat that as a later connection failure. Test cable data support, the device’s unlock state and the relevant Windows detection guidance before repeating installation or altering unrelated account data.
