Prepare the Phone Before Downloading
A Ledger Live Android download is often part of replacing a phone rather than creating a new wallet. The app now uses the name Ledger Wallet. Begin by identifying the hardware device you will connect and the account tasks you need, so the new phone’s capabilities match the intended use.
This independent guide treats installation, hardware access, and account discovery as separate milestones. Completing them in that order gives you a useful checkpoint if something fails, without exposing your recovery phrase to the phone.
Establish the Correct App Identity
Navigate to the Ledger download hub from ledger.com and use its Android link. It leads to the Google Play package com.ledger.live. That technical identifier preserves the earlier brand even when the visible name says Ledger Wallet.
Inspect the publisher-linked listing and the compatibility information for this particular phone. If the store cannot install it, identify the requirement or availability issue. A similarly named application in search results is not a substitute, and an APK claiming to unlock unsupported phones is not a sensible installation path.
Check the Connection You Will Actually Use
For Nano X, Stax, or Flex, a supported Bluetooth connection can provide mobile hardware access. You will need the relevant Android discovery permissions and a charged, unlocked Ledger. Do not assume that pairing the device in system settings completes the application’s own connection flow.
Nano S Plus uses a wired route on compatible Android phones because it has no Bluetooth radio. Check USB OTG capability and obtain a cable or adapter that supports data. A USB-C socket and a charging cable alone do not establish that the required connection will work.
Install, Then Reconnect the Existing Wallet
After the store finishes installation, open the application and choose the correct hardware model. For a device already protecting your assets, use its existing-wallet route. Enter the PIN on the Ledger, complete the genuine check, and add supported accounts or use the current account synchronization option.
Do not choose new-wallet initialization merely because the Android installation is new. Your assets remain associated with their blockchain accounts. A different phone changes the interface you use, not the need to create or share new secrets.
If you are genuinely initializing new hardware, follow its own screens for generating and confirming the backup. Preserve those words offline. The Android keyboard should never be used to type them into Ledger Wallet, a browser, or a support form.
Make the First Session a Verification Session
Confirm that the intended accounts appear on the expected networks and let their data refresh. Request a receive address and compare the complete address with the hardware display. Avoid treating a correct-looking portfolio total as proof that every account and network was selected correctly.
Before a send, review the destination and action on the Ledger itself. If you previously used another phone, compare account details rather than copying an unfamiliar address from an old message. Keep routine app updates on the same verified Play channel.
New-Phone Questions
Should I Transfer Assets to the New Phone?
The phone is an interface, not a destination for the hardware wallet’s assets. Reconnecting the same device and accounts generally does not require a blockchain transfer.
What If the App Installs but the Ledger Is Missing?
That is the next milestone: inspect the supported connection, permissions, and cable. Replacing the download with an unofficial build does not add Bluetooth or OTG capability.
