Choose the Account Setup Before the Installer
This Ledger Live Mac Sonoma install guide focuses on building a recognizable account view after the program opens. Ledger Wallet, formerly Ledger Live, is the current application. Decide whether you are connecting hardware you already use or initializing a genuinely new device; that decision prevents unnecessary recovery work later.
For an existing wallet, privately note the networks and account formats you expect to find. A label alone is not enough to distinguish accounts. If some accounts use an additional passphrase, keep that distinction in mind without writing the secret into installation notes.
Put the Supported App on Sonoma
Inspect the Sonoma version and Mac processor, then compare them with the official desktop download requirements. Follow the macOS package currently offered for that combination. A tutorial screenshot is useful orientation, but its filename or edition may differ from today’s download.
Carry out the copy operation requested by the installer and start the application in Applications. Once you have identified that copy, use it for the remaining checks. A mounted installation image and an installed program are different locations, even when both show the same icon.
Establish Device Access Before Account Discovery
Use USB with the dedicated desktop edition and a cable designed to transfer data. On an Apple silicon MacBook, respond to accessory permission with the laptop unlocked. Apple’s accessory permission reference explains why a powered device may still lack data access.
Unlock the hardware and follow the device-check prompts. Keep other wallet interfaces closed during the first connection. A browser session already using the Ledger can complicate diagnosis if the desktop program also tries to access it.
Build the Account List Deliberately
Install the device application required for a supported blockchain through My Ledger. Then add the relevant account in the computer interface. These are related actions with different results: installing a device app does not automatically reproduce every account you previously displayed.
Start with one known account and wait for discovery. Compare its history and network before giving it a familiar name. For tokens, establish the parent blockchain and supported integration. A token ticker shared across several chains does not identify the correct account.
Check Receiving and Local Preferences
Request a receiving address and inspect it on the hardware display. Check the complete value against the computer, and verify the sending service’s network before making a transfer. Do not use an address copied from a supposed support response as an alternative.
Review your display currency and optional local lock after the accounts are correct. The hardware PIN remains a separate control. No computer installation or local preference should require entering the recovery phrase in Sonoma, a browser or a chat.
Sonoma Questions
Why does the portfolio differ from the old laptop?
Compare account inclusion, refresh completion, display currency and token support. A combined total can differ for reasons unrelated to hardware ownership or device keys.
What if macOS reports a harmful application?
Stop using that file and verify its source and current publisher guidance. Treat the actual warning category seriously instead of using a generic approval command.
Does a new computer require a new recovery sheet?
Connecting an existing configured Ledger does not create another wallet. Preserve its established backup and use the existing-device path when your intention is to manage the same accounts.
