Classify the Nano X Connection Failure
When Ledger Live Nano X is not connecting, use the host as the first dividing line. Ledger Wallet, formerly Ledger Live, communicates over USB on desktop and offers a Bluetooth path on supported phones. A phone’s successful pairing does not establish that a computer’s USB connection works. Record the host, connection method, and last screen reached before changing any setting.
A Desktop That Never Recognizes the Device
Begin with a direct USB connection using a proven data cable. If you normally use a dock or several adapters, simplify that route. Note whether the operating system reacts when the cable is attached. The Nano X battery can keep its display alive independently, so a lit screen is particularly weak evidence that the computer has a usable data link.
Unlock the hardware and follow the selected flow’s device instructions. A management operation and a transaction may ask for different screens. Close other wallet interfaces, including browser tabs, that might already use the device. Consult Ledger’s USB guidance before changing operating-system access or drivers.
A Phone That Cannot Discover Nano X
Check Bluetooth on the hardware and phone, then review the app-specific discovery permission. Use the official mobile app linked by the publisher’s download page. Keep one pairing attempt active at a time. If the hardware shuts down or the battery is insufficient, resolve that condition rather than repeatedly clearing phone settings.
If the phone discovers the Nano X but the association fails, compare the codes and follow the official stale-pairing procedure. Remove only the connection records specified for that model. Do not confuse a command to clear pairings with one that erases the hardware wallet.
A Device That Connects but Cannot Complete an Action
A working connection can still encounter an outdated device app, an account mismatch, or a remote service error. Preserve the exact message. If My Ledger recognizes Nano X but one account does not refresh, investigate that network. If the device does not match the account, identify the original initialized wallet configuration rather than changing Bluetooth or generating a new recovery phrase.
For an interrupted Ledger OS update, the hardware screen may show a special state instead of its ordinary dashboard. Follow the model-specific update recovery instructions. Do not interrupt changing installation progress or repeatedly switch between phone and computer in the middle of an active update.
Use Comparison Tests Carefully
Testing the same cable and Nano X on another supported computer can help isolate the original host. Testing Bluetooth on another compatible phone can help isolate phone settings. Interpret each result narrowly: success on USB does not prove Bluetooth permission is correct, and successful pairing does not prove an account service is available.
Connection Questions
Can resetting the wallet repair a denied phone permission?
A reset cannot grant an application Bluetooth access. Preserve the wallet configuration and adjust only the relevant supported connection setting.
What should I document for support?
List the host version, app version, Nano X screen message, method attempted, and meaningful comparison tests. Review logs before sharing them. Do not provide a PIN, recovery phrase, backup photograph, or transaction approval as a supposed diagnostic requirement.
