Choose the Nano X Setup Path First
Before starting Ledger Live Nano X setup, decide whether you are creating new accounts or reconnecting accounts the device already controls. The companion app is currently Ledger Wallet, formerly Ledger Live. The decision matters more than which phone or computer you use: new hardware initialization and adding another interface to an existing wallet should not be confused.
Reconnecting a Nano X You Already Use
Install the application through Ledger’s official starting point. Select the existing-device route, unlock the Nano X using its own buttons, and connect through the supported method. Desktop uses USB; compatible mobile use can involve Bluetooth. A fresh app installation does not require sending your assets elsewhere, generating another phrase, or erasing the initialized hardware.
Add the supported accounts you want to view. If a previously used account does not appear, confirm the blockchain and original device configuration before changing anything. A different account type or additional passphrase configuration can matter. Do not experiment by initializing the device again in the hope that the familiar balance will appear.
Creating a New Wallet on Nano X
For genuinely new setup, follow the on-device prompts and choose your own PIN. The Nano X’s buttons select and confirm information; the private actions belong on that hardware screen. A PIN supplied by someone else or a completed recovery sheet is inconsistent with creating a wallet whose secrets only you control. Stop and consult Ledger if the device arrives in that condition.
When the hardware generates recovery words, write them privately in numbered order and complete the requested on-device checks. Avoid a camera, cloud notes, messaging app, or shared screen. The backup can provide access independently of the particular Nano X, so its storage deserves as much attention as the device itself.
Choose the Connection That Matches the Host
For a computer, use a compatible USB data cable and follow the app’s hardware prompts. On a supported phone, enable Bluetooth permissions and begin pairing inside the mobile app. Compare the pairing code before accepting it. General phone Bluetooth pairing alone does not finish every step of Ledger’s onboarding and authenticity check.
Check Ledger’s current pairing guidance if a previously used phone association blocks discovery. Removing Bluetooth relationships is a connection repair, whereas a factory reset changes the wallet configuration. Choose only the action matching the documented issue.
Add a First Account With Deliberate Network Choices
After device verification and any required model-specific maintenance, install the relevant blockchain app through My Ledger. Add its account in the companion interface. For tokens, check the actual chain rather than choosing by ticker alone. Before funding, start Receive and verify the destination against the Nano X display. Fees and minimum withdrawal amounts belong to the sending service or network, not the setup process.
Nano X Setup Questions
Can the phone app accept my backup to save time?
Do not type the recovery phrase into a phone or computer. If intentional restoration is required, enter it on the hardware using the official model instructions.
Is a visible balance proof that the right Nano X is connected?
Public account information can remain visible without a live device session. Verify hardware communication and the intended address before relying on a new setup for transactions.
