Understand the Nano S Plus Before Onboarding
Ledger Live Nano S Plus setup is a wired workflow. The model has no Bluetooth, so start with a supported host and a suitable USB data path instead of searching for wireless settings. Ledger Wallet, formerly Ledger Live, is the companion application’s current name. Choose the correct model in onboarding so the prompts match the device you have.
Prepare the Host and Connection
Obtain the app through Ledger’s onboarding page. Check operating-system support and the cable requirements for your computer. A compatible Android phone can use the supported USB OTG arrangement, but an iPhone does not provide the equivalent wired Ledger connection. Review the Nano S Plus FAQ before buying an adapter for an unsupported route.
The device draws power through USB, yet power alone is not a connection test. If its screen lights up but onboarding waits, substitute a proven data cable and simplify the adapter chain. Solve that basic communication problem before considering firmware, accounts, or advanced permission changes.
Make One Clear Wallet Decision
For an already configured Nano S Plus, connect it as an existing wallet. Installing software on another computer does not create a reason to regenerate its recovery phrase. If this is new hardware intended for a new wallet, follow new-device onboarding instead. Know which outcome you want before accepting a choice that changes the hardware’s wallet state.
Use the device buttons to choose and confirm a PIN. That code unlocks the hardware and is separate from any application-lock password on the computer. Do not enter the PIN into a website or accept a seller’s predetermined code. If you later forget it, avoid repeated guesses because incorrect attempts can reset the device.
Complete the Backup Before Funding
For a new wallet, record the hardware-generated recovery phrase in the order displayed and finish its on-device confirmation. Keep the backup offline, without a photograph or cloud copy. Never submit it to the companion app as a way to activate setup, verify ownership, or finish a USB check. An intentional restore also takes place on the hardware, not in a computer text field.
Think through who could access the backup and what would happen if the device were unavailable. Do not send funds until the setup and backup exercise are complete. A filled-in recovery sheet provided with the device is a reason to stop, not a shortcut around writing your own backup.
Build a Repeatable Account Workflow
Complete the genuine-device check and install the appropriate blockchain application through My Ledger. Add its supported account separately in the companion app. When receiving, choose the network carefully and compare the requested address on the Nano S Plus with the computer display. This creates a workflow you can repeat after changing computers without initializing another wallet.
Nano S Plus Setup Questions
Will a Bluetooth adapter make this model wireless?
No. The model lacks Bluetooth hardware. Use its documented USB route rather than a utility claiming to add a missing connection feature.
Why does setup ask for different device screens?
Device management and account operations use different conversations with the hardware. Follow the current prompt about the dashboard or requested blockchain app instead of opening an arbitrary app while waiting.
