Know Which Device Configuration You Want
Ledger Live Windows 11 setup is a computer-interface task unless you are also initializing new hardware. Ledger Wallet is the current application name. If the Ledger already manages your accounts, identify that configuration before starting; a fresh PC is not a reason to create a different recovery phrase.
Note the relevant assets, networks and account types privately. If you use an additional passphrase or several signing devices, distinguish them. Windows account names and a local application password cannot identify which wallet keys originally controlled a blockchain address.
Prepare the Supported PC Environment
Check the installed Windows release and architecture against the requirements on the Ledger desktop software page. A Windows 11 ARM computer should not be assumed to support a package merely because another Windows laptop does. Follow the current publisher statement for that configuration.
Complete ordinary pending system updates and any requested restart before onboarding. Use an appropriate data cable for the Ledger and available ports. Keep the initial test simple, avoiding unnecessary docks and other wallet interfaces until the basic connection works.
Install and Confirm the Executable
Download the Windows package through Ledger’s verified route. Follow the installer and review the actual publisher and security information. A file that triggers an unresolved malware warning should remain blocked while investigated; installation progress is not a reason to disregard the warning.
Open the installed application through a known shortcut. If you have older copies, check which one is running before evaluating update behavior. Starting an old executable can make the new installation appear unsuccessful without anything being wrong with the download.
Discover Accounts Through the Hardware
Select onboarding for the device’s actual state and complete its genuine check. On configured hardware, enter the PIN using the Ledger’s own controls. Install required device apps through My Ledger and discover the corresponding supported blockchain accounts in the interface.
For genuinely new hardware, create and confirm the recovery backup according to its screen instructions. Those words should not pass through a Windows form. The app’s optional local lock, when enabled, is a privacy feature and is separate from hardware signing authority.
Verify the Result in Layers
Check device recognition first, account identity next and synchronization afterward. For an initial receive operation, compare the full address on the Ledger with the address on Windows. Confirm the sender’s selected network before initiating any payment.
If Windows recognizes hardware poorly, consult Ledger’s Windows detection procedure for the relevant device. Prefer the documented system driver path to generic driver utilities. If only account refresh fails, investigate network services separately from USB.
Windows 11 Setup Questions
Must I create an email-based wallet login?
Ordinary hardware-wallet management does not depend on a universal email account. Optional providers can have separate authentication, which should not be confused with device access.
Can Bluetooth replace the desktop cable?
The dedicated desktop program expects USB hardware communication. Wireless mobile instructions do not establish a supported Windows desktop pairing route.
What should I compare after moving from another PC?
Compare network, account type, address history and synchronization. Local labels or display currency can differ, so a portfolio layout is not sufficient evidence that every intended account was added.
