Separate Pairing From the Wallet Itself
Ledger Live Nano X Bluetooth pairing creates a mobile connection to an existing or newly configured device. It does not create new blockchain accounts or replace a recovery backup. The mobile app is now Ledger Wallet, formerly Ledger Live. Use this distinction when a phone remembers an old association: you may need to repair a connection relationship without changing the wallet’s underlying configuration.
Choose a Supported Phone Session
Obtain the application through the mobile links on Ledger’s download page. Check phone compatibility, charge the Nano X, and unlock it on its own controls. Desktop users should take the USB route instead; computer Bluetooth settings do not enable the desktop application to use the mobile pairing workflow.
Before scanning, close another phone app or session already connected to the Nano X. Keep the phone and hardware nearby and watch both screens. A simultaneous connection attempt from several hosts makes it harder to identify the request you meant to authorize.
Give Discovery the Required Access
The phone’s Bluetooth radio and the app’s permission to use it are separate settings. Review the relevant Bluetooth or nearby-device permission for Ledger Wallet. Android versions can differ, with older scanning flows using location permission. Do not grant unrelated permissions to an imitation app just because its icon looks similar to the official listing.
Start device discovery from Ledger Wallet’s connection flow and select Nano X. A shortened device name may be legitimate after software changes, but identify the intended hardware carefully. Wait for the pairing code and compare it on both displays. Confirm the connection only when the codes agree and the request follows your own setup action.
Understand an Old Pairing Record
If a previously paired device appears but refuses to connect, use the sequence in Ledger’s pairing troubleshooting. Depending on the documented case, old entries may need removing from the app, phone Bluetooth settings, and hardware pairing memory. Read the command name before accepting it: resetting pairings is different from resetting the Ledger device.
A factory reset is not a substitute for cleaning up stale Bluetooth records. Avoid deleting application data indiscriminately as well; it can remove account organization while leaving a phone association untouched. Make the change at the layer identified by the error and then retry one complete pairing attempt.
After a Device OS Update
Once an OS installation has finished, check the current restart and pairing instructions if reconnection is needed. Do not restart the device or remove its power while update progress is active merely to refresh Bluetooth. An unfinished update state needs its own model-specific recovery flow before normal mobile pairing can resume.
Mobile Pairing Questions
Why are balances visible before pairing completes?
The app can retain public account information. To test hardware communication, use a legitimate device action such as the connection flow or My Ledger rather than relying on a portfolio screen alone.
Do I need to type my phrase when I change phones?
No. Pair the configured device and add the intended accounts. Intentional hardware restoration is separate and must not collect recovery words through the phone application.
Does pairing authorize later transactions automatically?
No. Read and confirm each requested spending action on the Nano X. A working wireless connection is not permission to approve unfamiliar addresses or contract requests.
